Dr. Alyazia Ali Al Kuwaiti is the Executive Director of the Energy portfolio in Mubadala. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring the effective management of the global energy operating companies within this portfolio, including oversight of the companies’ business plans, growth strategies and overall performance.
Mubadala’s Energy portfolio consists of mature companies in which Mubadala has concentrated positions. Our energy businesses are integral to the energy ecosystems they operate within, and their primary focus is to drive Energy Transition through every aspect of their operations to deliver a more sustainable future.
Dr. Alyazia previously served as the Executive Director, Upstream & Integrated and Director of the Midstream and Upstream Investments Department at the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC). Prior to that, she worked at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO).
Dr. Alyazia was a member in the steering Committee that managed the merger between two major Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth funds in 2016 to consolidate assets of $ 120 Billion. And in 2019, She led a major transaction on the sell side on behalf of Mubadala to partially divest one of its energy assets to Carlyle Group that resulted in generating sales proceeds exceeded $ 3 Billion and establishing a new partnership with top tier Private equity fund.
Dr. Alyazia plays an active role in accelerating the professional development of young Emiratis, she is also a strong advocate for the advancement of women in both the local workforce and, more broadly, in the international Energy scene. In 2013, she had won the Career Achievement Category by the Emirates Women’s Awards for her contribution as a leading female figure in the nation’s energy investments industry.
Dr. Alyazia is a board member in CEPSA www.Cepsa.com, OMV www.omv.com, the Emirates Securities & Commodities Authority www.sca.gov.ae and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development www.adfd.ae. She previously served in a number of Abu Dhabi based entities boards including Senaat, NPCC, Khalifa Fund and others.
In addition, she is a member in most of the reporting boards’ committees such as Audit, Remuneration, projects, strategy and sustainability.
Her corporate boards experience is primarily in the energy and industrial sector with competent financial and strategic value creation record. And most recently, in January 2021, she was nominated as a member in Mubadala investment and business planning committee that approves incoming. transactions across the entire group of diverse sectors such as technology, financial services, real estate, health care, consumer and others.
Dr. Alyazia holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Portobello College in Dublin, Ireland; a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Wollongong in Dubai; and a PhD in Business Administration from UAE University on the topic of Corporate Governance in Publicly Listed Companies in UAE stock markets.
